HA NOI The Viet Nam
National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) has urged the hotel industry to
continue striving for better service quality, welcoming the increasing
competition in the tourism sector. VNAT's call came on Thursday as it
announced the ten best hotels and ten best tour operators in Viet Nam last
year.
The top hotel gong went to the Ben Thanh (Rex) Hotel in HCM City, followed
by Furama Resort in the central coast city of Da Nang. Making up the
remainder of the top ten were the Hilton Ha Noi Opera and the Meritus West
Lake in Ha Noi; the De Nhat (First) Hotel and the Cuu Long (Majestic) Hotel
in HCM City; Hue�s Huong Giang Hotel; the Huu Nghi (Friendship) Hotel in Hai
Phong; the Anna Mandara in the central province of Khanh Hoa; and Ha Noi�s
Sofitel Metropole Hotel.
The top tour operator award was collected by HCM City outfit SaigonTourist
(the Saigon Tourism Service Company), followed by close rival Ben Thanh
Tourism Service Co. Also named in the top ten were the Vung Tau-based
OSC-SMI Tourist Service joint venture; the Viet Nam Tourism Company from Ha
Noi; HCM City�s Hoa Binh (Peace) Tours, Voluntary Youth Tours and Exotissimo
Cesais; the Ha Noi Tourism Company; and the Tan Dinh Tourist Service and
Apex Viet Nam joint venture, both from HCM City.
VNAT noted that the country had last year hosted 2.13 million international
and 11.2 million domestic tourists, and attributed some of this growth to
better hotel and tourist services. The annual top ten awards are designed to
help tourist service enterprises review their own development, thus
improving their performance and promoting healthy competition. The
candidates are judged on a range of criteria including business
effectiveness, total number of tourists served for tourist agencies, profit
and room occupancy for hotels |
